Fun Wedding Prep

The wedding planning is coming right along. We are now doing the fun stuff like wine tasting and center piece planting. Here we are last weekend at my parents house playing in the dirt and enjoying some fine (but cheap!) wine.

Bling

I have never been a big jewelry person though I do have a cork board of my newly acquired necklaces from my 30 by 30 list. My partner is even less of a jewelry person even though her aunt makes incredible fused glass necklaces. So, for us to venture up to the diamond district of NYC was truly extravagant!

We took a friday off and drove up to NJ and jumped on the train. We had a great quick lunch at a thai restaurant and then wondered 20ish blocks up to Times Square and the Diamond District.

We were overwhelmed by the sparkling rocks in all the windows and thus were grateful that our jeweler was on the 8th floor of an office building. After showing ID, observing a million security cameras, and two buzzer opperated doors we made it to Leigh Jay Nacht's studio (aka a studio apartment with three little desks and lots of jewelry parts everywhere!).

We pretty much knew what we were looking for because we had spent hours on his website but much to our suprise the more bling the more we liked it!

So here is our beauty. It is hard to see because jewelry is very difficult to capture but if you come visit after June 18th you can see it in person :)

Wedding Dresses

The hunt for two perfect dresses has begun. Two dresses which we both feel fabulous wearing but that also look good together side by side. We are not that picky and yet this is proving to be a bit more of a challenge than anticipated. Thank goodness for bridesmaid dresses which come in a million styles and colors.

Here is what we are working with so far. Any suggestions or thoughts? Imagine them all in Ivory and of course without the pins holding them up!

Examples of both of us in Ivory side by side:

Strapless:

V-neck, long and flowy

Tents, tables, etc

It was a cold, rainy, gross day when we adventured to Dover to pick out the "stuff" for the wedding. We entered into a show room of colors and options which immediately lifted our spirits. Purple and green are our colors so we starting pulling out everything in those colors and mixing and matching. And this is what we ended up with: barney purple table cloths with sage green napkins and a centerpiece that is yet to be designed by us!

Notice the nice chair at the table. We went for nice chairs that will be moved from the ceremony to the tables rather than cheap uncomfy chairs. However, we expect little sitting and lots of dancing!

My mother-in-law-to-be was super helpful with the colors since she does lots of quilting and sewing. Next April and I and both of our mothers will be at JoAnnes creating a centerpiece......

Cake Tasting

Weddings are a great excuse to do things fun like cake tastings. My sweet tooth girlfriend was all about the cake so off we went to two different places. This is our first place where the cake was fine but not fabulous.

Our second tasting the baker made us these four little cakes to bring home to try. They were AWESOME and she will definitely be baking our cake. I'm not telling you what kind of cake we will be having yet because it is still up for debate. Who knew there were so many options!

We turned our backs for one second and little Leni dove right into the box. Which did not stop us from finishing the cakes.

But, we did then let the girls lick the patter clean!
