Another Snow Day

Little boys and dogs

Little boys and dogs are great together.......most of the time. My neighbor Matthew is 5-years-old and he just can not contain his excitement about Lula and Leni. Leni also can not control herself when she sees Matthew. Thus, the two of them have a lot of fun and cause a lot of chaos on Laurel St.

What is today's date?

Sunday evening and Monday morning the weather was wild. Huge gusts of wind, driving rain, and flooding just about everywhere (including my entire back yard!). But it was 65 degrees. Monday afternoon the clouds cleared and out came the sun which confused the bulbs in my yard. In just one afternoon all of these bulbs shot up out of the ground proclaiming that spring had sprung.





Even the tulips started to nose their way up towards the sky.


It was a truly glorious day followed by a few more mild weathered sunny days. And now. Yes indeed. They are predicting snow for tomorrow :(

Who knew that playing with one floret of broccoli would be so much fun!

Rocket Dog

When Zeus gets wound up and decides he wants to play there is no holding back. Here is the pack in "rocket dog mode". Leni will be able to keep up some day soon :)

Walking

My morning walks have been a crucial part of my physical and emotional health over the last few years. There is something magical that happens when you breath in the morning air and watch the sun rise. This is also my time to do some training with Lula and give her a good dose of exercise for the day.

Our morning walk routine has been interrupted the last few weeks by two things: the season's dark and cold morning and LENI! It is very difficult to walk two dogs when one of them has no idea how to walk in a straight line. Thus for the last few weeks when I take the girls out we end up looking like this:


However, I persisted ahead with training Leni how to behave on a leash and I'm happy to say we are finally here:


And thus our morning walks, with all three of us, begin today!

Leni's Noises

This video suffers from "black dogs don't photograph well" syndrome but make sure you volume is on because you will hear Leni's play noises. She is quite the vocal little thing when she plays but she rarely barks.

Leni is growing

Leni went to the vet yesterday and she has grown from 11 lbs to 18.3 lbs. She is getting really good at "sit" and "down" but she definitely things that the furniture belongs to her.

30 Things Before 30

Two weeks back I turned 29. I decided that my 20s should go out with a bang and thus created this list. It is somewhat of a new years resolution list as well and thus I share it with you all today with the hopes that you will hold me to these tasks and maybe even be inspired to make your own list!

1. enter in a dog competition
2. do a full pull up (hand both ways, one after the other!)
3. walk in a 10K race
4. go on a date
5. make a fancy four course meal
6. finish the hall bathroom renovations
7. go to ocean city because it is silly that I haven't been there yet
8. attend a new conference
9. kayak on local waters
10. do 10 full push ups
11. do yoga
12. make peppermint tea from mint in the yard
13. find a local charity for routine volunteering
14. make a coffee table book (scrapbook) out of my blog
15. discover new musicians to update my musical repertoire
16. learn the names of all the plants in my house and yard
17. improve the energy efficiency of my house
18. learn how to get stains out of my clothes for real
19. sing as many days as possible
20. make important things in life more secure (documents, photos, passwords)
21. add the details to my wardrobe to increase my professional appearance
22. buy a car
23. break even financially in my childbirth business
24. become a member of my church
25. learn a new song on the piano and perform it
26. make a new recipe every week or at least as often as possible
27. ride my bike more often
28. shop as local as possible
29. tell one of the people (and dogs) I love that I love them every day
30. Turn 30 with peace in my mind, love in my heart, and enough energy to live at least 60 more years!
