Leni's First Swim

Leni meets more family

Leni had a great Christmas because she meet the entire extended family. Here she is completely zoned out on cousin Jessica's lap.


Leni had a blast in the snow with Auntie Martha.


But Leni's best friend in the entire family is Yaara. Yaara has just the right amount of spunky energy to keep up with 13 wk old Leni.

The Family Pack

In just two years the extended family pack has grown from none to four! There is Yaara (far left) who is 1.5 yrs old, Leni (the peanut fluff ball) is 14 wks old, Zeus who is 6 years old, and of course the glorious Lula who is 2.5 yrs old.

As you can imagine getting a picture with all four in the same shot is almost impossible but this line up captures the pack.

Thanks to an Indian bakery in VA and some awesome relatives we had wedding cake.


Mom surprised the bride with a beautiful bouquet to carry.


The tables were on dressed with hand block print table clothes from India and the family china.


It was glorious from beginning to end!

Wedding Bells

Since my last posting a lot has happened but most importantly my sister got married. A small family gathering at my parents house on Christmas was wedding # 2. Wedding # 1 was in India and Wedding # 3 is coming this summer. Congrats Sis and Bro-in-law!

Snow Day # 2

With 2 feet of snow on the ground it is kind of hard to play frisbee. The girls do, however, love to dig in the snow to try to find their toys. Leni is learning a lot from Lula but most of all appreciates the paths she makes for her in the yard.





When we play and wrestle our hair acquired snow clumps. Isn't this the cutest little snow clump butt you have ever seen?


This snow beard is pretty fabulous too!


When we get cold and tired it is snuggle time. Gotta love those snow filled puppy kisses.

Birthday # 29

December's Pot Luck was my birthday party! Thanks to all my friends who brought great food and beautiful ornaments, sang carols, visited with Santa, and ate birthday cheesecake.

Snow Day

Black dogs are much easier to see in the snow except when it is so deep that they fall in! Leni wasn't quite sure what to do with all the snow this morning but Lula quickly showed her how to have fun.

Big Sista Lula

The biggest reason I wanted a second dog was to keep Lula company while I am at work and to play with Lula at night when I have to do chores. I then decided on a puppy because I thought Lula would help me raise the new baby. Well my two dreams have come true! Lula has helped me so much in so many cute ways!

# 1 - On night two Leni was crying in her cage for what seemed like forever. I was determined not to cave in and let her in the bed. Lula got so annoyed with her crying that she walked over to the cage, thumped her paw on the door, and growled the meanest growl I have ever heard. Leni immediately stopped barking and has not barked a single night since then.

# 2 - Leni has a tiny bladder and no intestinal control and thus makes messes around the house. This is typical puppy behavior but Lula is getting tired of it. Whenever Leni makes a mess Lula comes running to me and makes a terrible face, as if to say..."mom, she did it again!"

# 3 - Leni has no boundaries. She runs into, jumps on, tugs at, and tumbles over Lula all day long. Most of the time Lula is fine with it and welcomes the invitation to play. Thus the girls play constantly all evening long and leave me to make dinner, do laundry, and check email. My rule with Lula has always been no more playing after 8pm and she is teaching this to Leni. Around 8pm when Leni is still fully charged and continues to want to play with Lula, Lula snarls at her and will pin her to the ground. Thus continuing the tradition of peace and quite after 8pm.

I LOVE that Lula is such a good big sister!

Bed Snuggles

The only time I can get this wild puppy to calm down is between 4-5 in the morning. Leni is currently sleeping in her kennel but after her 4am potty trip she joins Lula and I in the bed. The other morning I woke up to them curled up together but of course the moment I reached for the camera they moved.

Play in Action

What these girls play. They are rough and tumbly but both seem to be completely enjoying themselves. Note that this actually happened at 6 am this morning :)

Play, Play, Play, Play, Play

our new morning routine is to play in the living room while I drink my coffee. It is so hard to take pictures of black dogs especially when they are wrestling and moving fast.





But when they are outside it is much easier to get a good shot!

So Cute!

Sleeping

Puppies are either on or off. This is Leni on her way too off mode :) She was so exhausted after all the fun yesterday that she slept from 9pm to 5am (with the exception of two quick potty breaks at 12 and 3am).



Today she goes to work with me......wish me luck!
